Make
Us A Prayer!!
In light of our concern for our Nation and the
world at hand, I felt it appropriate to mention some things we can
do for ourselves and children to help us through this time. Though
things seem to be turning around for our troops and Iraq, it is
important to not forget them and to continue in our routine of prayer
and supplication. Our children learn from us. They model us. If
we are scared and are complaining about the issues at hand, they
will do like wise. However, if they see us respond in love, courage
and with prayer, they will follow suit. I have put together some
resources that you can share with your family for ideas and things
we can do as friends, families, prayers and together as a nation
brought together by the hands of God, rest assured, it will make
a difference.
A: Love your Neighbor
1) Matthew 22:39 36"Teacher, which is the
greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love
the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and
with all your mind.'[2] 38This is the first and greatest commandment.
39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[3]
40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
2) Philippians 2:14-15 14Do everything without complaining or arguing,
15so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without
fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like
stars in the universe 16as you hold out[3] the word of life--in
order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or
labor for nothing.
Be careful not to get into debates over your
patriotism. Do not confuse this with your love for God. God is in
control. We are not here to prove one virtuous leader over another,
or to claim authority in any manner. We know only that our Gracious
Father be in control and that we will testify till the end. Love
all you come in contact with and spread only the Gospel.
B: Pray
1) Ephesians 6:10-18 10
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on
the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the
devil's schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,
but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers
of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the
heavenly realms. 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that
when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground,
and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then,
with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate
of righteousness in place, 15and with your feet fitted with the
readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to
all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish
all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation
and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18And pray
in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the
saints.
2) Matthew 5:43-48 43
"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor[8]
and hate your enemy.' 44But I tell you: Love your enemies[9] and
pray for those who persecute you, 45that you may be sons of your
Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the
good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46If
you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even
the tax collectors doing that? 47And if you greet only your brothers,
what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?
48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Here are a few ways you can practically help
by praying and show your children what you are doing. We signed
up and received a service man or woman to pray for, for each child.
They feel like they are actively doing something and it helps them
feel courageous.

Our Troops In Prayer
B: Presidential
Prayer Team
1 Timothy 2: 1-3 "First of all, then, I
urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be
made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority,
in order that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness
and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our
Savior."
Sit with your children and help them pray for
our President, our leaders, our troops, and our country. Here are
some ideas for things to pray for:

Without a doubt, this is a hard time in our life.
We need to use the tools God gave us to support our families, to
protect ourselves and to ultimately find our security with the Father.
He is our only true, unchanging constant. In this, we must put our
faith, trust and hope. I love this song sung by Rita Springer, I
put the words below.
Make Us A Prayer
(Rita Springer)
Make me a prayer, let my prayers be a cry
Humble my heart so that you may draw nigh
Cause me to stand and cry out for this land
Cause me to be one who’s set free
To stand, as a house of prayer
Make us a prayer, let our prayers be a cry
Humble our hearts so that you may draw nigh
Cause us to stand and cry out for this land
Cause us to be a people set free
To stand, as a house of prayer

New Item News!
We now have Mystery of History.
I listened to the author this month at a homeschool meeting..(she
is from my area) and was so encouraged to teach history. This book
is very nice. The Mystery of History provides a historically accurate,
Bible-centered approach to learning ancient history. The completely
chronological lessons shed new light on who walked in the earth
when, as well as on where important Bible figures fit into secular
history.

Easy Science Experiments
Homeschool 101
~By Tim Hubbell~
Explore the Wildlife Habitats in you
own Backyard
With Spring (finally) in the air, homeschoolers
have great opportunities in learn about the natural world from observing
their own back yard. Fun and learning are just a few steps out the
back door.
One way to better understand the living world
is to explore the various wildlife habitats around us. A habitat
is simply a place where living things find the resources (food,
water, space) to live. Some animals need a large habitat (i.e. buffalo),
other animals need much less space. Around our homes and in nearby
parks there are countless habitats to be investigated.
A good exercise for a small suburban yard or
park is to make a list of all the habitats and micro-habitats you
can find. Ambitious students can catalog the different species in
each habitat. For example, a possible habitat could be a brush-pile
with sparrows, spiders, chipmunks and lizards. Another could be
under a large flat rock or log with ants, beetles, earthworms, spiders,
pill bugs, etc.
This exercise can be tailored to various ages.
The older students could be asked to research and report on their
favorite creatures or habitat. Advanced students could explore the
interactions and relationships in a particular habitat between the
organisms and their environment.
Conservationists encourage the creation of habitats
for wildlife in urban and suburban yards. The creation and management
of a few small habitats in your yard could be a very educational
ongoing project. The site below from the national wildlife foundation
can help you get started.
